Life Drawing Workshop

I went to a Life Drawing workshop today and had a great time. It is amazing how much my drawing / perspective skills improved.

This is the first drawing I did (5 min sketch) before any lesson from the tutor.

Then this is the 5 min sketch after some instructions, the whole legs business side of things is still a bit crowded but I felt there was a real improvement.

These are 15 minutes sketches

drawings this week

Everyday Matters weekly challenge #196 'Rope'. It took me longer to find a bit of rope around the house than to draw it!! Really enjoyed trying to work up the texture of the rope.

This silver leaf is from the garden, I don't know the name of the plant. The challenge from the Botanicalart.yahoo group was to draw a plant or part of a plant that has been magnified. My subject matter is in the top left of the photo. Was an excellent thing to do, plants look very different under the magnifying glass.

Swainsono galegifolio

My first attempt at botanical illustration. This is the Smooth Darling Pea. We collected the specimum from Guerie near Dubbo yesterday when we were out birding. It was in flower all over the reserve we visited. We were lucky enough to see a possie load of birds including the Plum Headed Finch.

EDM - fork

Today I had a go at drawing a Fork for the Everyday Matters challenge 'fork'.

empty nest

This card came about from the Illustration Friday topic 'Vacant', as an avid bird watcher I have wondered what the parent bird must feel when it returns home with a feed for its babies to find an empty nest that has been raided by the crows.

These ATCs and postcard were created after spending a weekend with Robyn Lynch at the Yoga Oh Baby workhop held in Mudgee. I made a series of 7 postcards to send to some of my Yoga buddies.

deLiver Mail Art project

These two prints were done as ATC size as part of a print challenge for FineArtsATC.yahoo group.

I created the larger print as a postcard to send in to the deLiver mail art exhibition being held in Alice Springs this October, they are going to swap them all out at the end of the exhibition. The card created had to be about your home town, my caption on the back reads
"The Glossy Black Cockatoo makes his home around the place out here. He is a fabulous bird; he has it all looks and personality. Dubbo means Red Earth in the Wiradjuri Aboriginal language - I wonder did the Glossy Black get his red tail from this earth?
